Which sectors will be affected by the general strike in Portugal?

The constraints may be felt not only in public transport, but also in public services, such as hospitals and even schools.

Train service

Minimum services for trains, provided by CP – Comboios de Portugal, will ensure 30% of the company’s normal operations. On the CP website, it will be possible to ask for a reimbursement or revalidate the purchased tickets. To see whether a train was cancelled, it is advisable to check the CP mobile app.

Bus service

The bus services in Lisbon are guaranteed by Carris between 6 am and 9 am, and also between 4 pm and 7 pm. However, normal services are guaranteed on routes that mostly serve hospitals and other health facilities, as well as schools and universities. In this case, only the routes 703, 708, 717, 726, 735, 736, 738, 751, 755, 758, 760 and 767 will be operational. The other lines will be cancelled.

Metro service

Lisbon Metro services will not be guaranteed, with the station to be closed from 11 pm on 2 June until 6:30 am on 4 June.

In Porto, the Metro will operate with reduced capacity on the stretch between Senhora da Hora and Estádio do Dragão. Some trains on the yellow line may also be running.

In Coimbra, the Metro Mondego will operate with 20% of the usual capacity.

Air traffic

Regarding TAP, the Portuguese air company, there will be 79 flights; however, the company is contacting all passengers who will face constraints to ensure new alternatives can be found.
