Non-renewable sources accounted for 11 percent of the supply, with imports covering the remaining 28 percent.
Hydropower remains the largest source
National electricity demand rose by 3.8 percent year-on-year in May, or by 3.6 percent when adjusted for temperature effects, Renewables Now reports.
So far, renewables have met 73 percent of Portugal’s electricity consumption in 2026, according to data by Redes Energéticas Nacionais.
