The Martinhal Group has opened a new luxury riverside hotel and residences in the Parque das Nações area of Lisbon.

Martinhal Lisbon Oriente and Martinhal Residences were officially inaugurated on June 2, marking “an important new chapter for the brand” which is “already renowned for its collection of family hotels and resorts in Portugal’s top destinations across Lisbon and the Algarve.”

In a statement to the press, the group says that a “new level of design, sophistication and service has been imagined by the brand’s founders, Chitra and Roman Stern, who welcome guests to their new home-from-home in Lisbon’s thriving cultural hub.”

The new development features 77 hotel accommodations ranging from studios to one-, two-, and three-bedroom self-catered apartments. Each unit is equipped with smart Smeg appliances, Portuguese porcelain tableware, and separate living spaces.

“Visitors to Lisbon looking for the extra space and conveniences of a resort within a city have access to excellent facilities, including a 24/7 front desk, a Family & Baby Concierge, an indoor and outdoor heated swimming pool, a fitness centre, a Martinhal Kids Club – “Raposinhos” (Little Fox) with childcare programs suited to the youngest guests, and Terrace Café Bar Restaurant, the hotel’s signature restaurant that opens up onto a magnificent outdoor terrace,” the group says.

“Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, à la carte dining, the theme of the restaurant pays homage to the hotel’s location being in “Oriente” (Park of Nations) and featuring dishes inspired by the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Japan,” it adds.

The restaurant is open to everyone, while a “fully equipped business centre with co-working spaces, call pods and smart technology (WiFi 6) caters ideally to the ‘mobile office’ generation coming to Lisbon for both short, and extended stays.”

The building is “sustainably designed” by “world-famous Portuguese architect Eduardo Capinha Lopes” and boasts a “modern green façade in a prime position of Parque das Nações, with green areas and expansive terrace gardens” featuring olive trees.

The “abundance of greenery and light” aim to “amplify the feeling of space” and provide a “sensory connection to the neighbouring park and the views across the Tagus River.”

Inside the building, there is also “lush foliage adorning the ceiling of the restaurant” while artworks by some of Lisbon’s top artists are displayed.

A special “Stay 4 nights, pay 3” offer is available to celebrate the opening, with prices starting from 496€ for four nights for two adults and one baby aged up to 2 years.
