Former PS minister for modernisation Alexandra Leitão has added her voice to the general criticism of the government’s ‘meddling’ with savings certificates (to the advantage of the country’s banks). Says Expresso, she has “questioned the political option of Finance Minister Fernando Medina in lowering the increase in new emissions of savings certificates, considering it penalised the already low savings of middle class families”. Since being removed from her post in government, Ms Leitão has frequently criticised the cohesion and policies of the government.
